War, flood or earth-quakes are not predictable so is wildfire. When any of these happens, the people with Red Cross or Crescent-shaped designs on their vests gather from all over the world. Their job is to treat the survivors of disasters: the wounded of bombings, the wounded of earthquakes, the homeless people hurt by a destructive flood.
It has been a century since the volunteer-based organization of Iranian red-crescent has been established with the efforts of Dr. Amir Khan Amir Alam; and every community-based organization is strongly influenced by it in relieving people’s pains through their volunteers’ help and support.
On the occasion of “World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day” on May 8, we pay tribute to all the pioneers in this field for all their efforts and devotions.
